by Bob Baugher, PhD and Jack Jordan, PhD –– Reviewed by Jeanne Adams, SOS Facilitator- July 2002

“Someone you love or know, a familymember, a friend, a colleague at work, has died from suicide.”

This brief statement introduces us to a fine new resource that will prove helpful to survivors and those who wish to help them. Aimed at addressing the issues of the first few days, weeks and months following a suicide the authors expand well beyond the first year. Information is given in concise form covering a multitude of subjects from matters that must be handled to feelings and reactions.

The reader can choose to read straight through this 64 page soft cover book or seek information by subject as need arises. The easy division of topics makes it a handy resource for new survivors or a helpful review of issues for anyone.

Brief stories by survivors illustrate a variety of losses and give hope to others. Also included are support resources for survivors and a suggested reading list.

The authors have listened carefully to the questions of survivors. Their information has been strengthened by survivor input. This informational and supportive book is a welcomed resource.
