Book Report Recovering From Your Child’s Suicide Author: Morton A. Schrag –– Review by: Karen Stevenson, Manager MHCDC Emergency Services- October, 2002 This 18-page booklet has a great deal to say to parents who have lost a child to suicide. First published in 200l, it is dedicated to the author’s daughter Rebecca, who died by suicide in l983. The book conveys simply and directly the wisdom and advice for healing acquired through painful first-hand experience. While sharing his views on why the suicide of a child is extraordinarily difficult and how inept our society often is at helping grieving parents, Morton Schrag offers a strong message of hope and belief in recovery. It ends with a bibliography of recommended further reading; this short booklet would be a good one to start out with. Mr. Schrag will mail a free copy of “Recovering From Your Child’s Suicide” to anyone who requests it, either online at (sabamortla@aol.com) or by mail at 2054 Manning Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90025. If you request 10 or more copies. He asks that you make a donation to the Rebecca Schrag Memorial Fund.
